A 63cc mini tiller weighs approximately 15–18 kg, cuts 10–16 inches wide, and is designed specifically for surface de-weeding in polyhouses, flower beds, and narrow vegetable rows. A 7HP 212cc power weeder weighs 75–90 kg, tills 24–36 inches wide down to 8 inches deep, and handles heavy secondary tillage, ridging, and potato digging in tough soils.

For 1 to 5 acres of seasonal work, 7HP petrol weeders are optimal: they start easily with recoil, produce lower vibration, cost ₹10,000–₹15,000 less upfront, and have widely available local spare parts. For commercial contractors tilling >6 hours daily on large holdings, a 9HP diesel power tiller offers lower operating fuel cost per hour despite heavier weight.

A standard 7HP power weeder with PTO shaft or rear hitch supports adjustable rotary tilling blades, a ditching/ridging plow (for earthing up sugarcane and potato rows), a single furrow moldboard plow, anti-skid iron paddy wheels, and water pump attachments.

Change the 4-stroke engine oil (SAE 20W-40 or 15W-40) after the first 5 hours of initial running, and every 50 operating hours thereafter. Gearbox oil (SAE 90 or 80W-90 gear lubricant) should be inspected weekly and fully drained and replaced once per season (approx. 150 hours).
