Brush Cutter Fuel Mixing Guide

Brush Cutter Fuel Mixing Guide

Fuel mixing guide.

Fuel mixing guide for 2-stroke brush cutters with oil-ratio cautions, storage, symptoms of wrong mix and safety advice.

Confirm engine type first

Only 2-stroke brush cutters need petrol and 2T oil mixed together. 4-stroke machines use petrol in the tank and engine oil separately. Mixing oil into a 4-stroke fuel tank can create problems.

Use the model's oil ratio

Follow the ratio given by the manufacturer or product manual. Do not copy another model's ratio unless it is officially the same. Too little oil can score the engine; too much oil can smoke and foul the plug.

Mix clean and use fresh

Mix fuel in a clean can, shake before filling and avoid stale mixed fuel. Label the can so it is not confused with plain petrol.

Decision table

Situation Recommendation Why it matters
Too little oil Heat, scoring, engine damage Stop and correct immediately
Too much oil Smoke, plug fouling, carbon Drain and remix properly
Old mix Hard starting, poor running Use fresh fuel
