Battery Sprayer Maintenance Guide
A well-maintained battery sprayer lasts 5–7 years. Neglect causes motor burnout, battery failure, and nozzle blockage — all preventable with simple maintenance. Follow this complete guide.
After Every Use
- Flush tank: Fill with clean water, run motor for 2–3 minutes to flush chemical residue from pump, pipes, and nozzle
- Clean nozzle: Remove nozzle tip and rinse under running water. Use soft brush to clear debris
- Drain tank: Never store with chemical mixture inside — corrodes pump seals and plastic
- Wipe exterior: Dry off chemical splashes from tank, straps, and motor housing
Weekly Maintenance
- Check filter strainer: Remove inlet filter and clean debris. Blocked filter causes motor to overwork
- Inspect nozzle tips: Check for wear — worn nozzle gives uneven spray pattern. Replace if spray cone is irregular
- Check lance pipe joints: Tighten any loose connections. Leaks at joints waste chemical and reduce pressure
- Check battery terminals: Clean any white corrosion from battery terminals with dry cloth
Monthly Maintenance
- Deep clean tank: Fill with dilute baking soda solution (1 tbsp per litre), shake, drain. Removes chemical film buildup
- Inspect pump diaphragm/motor: If pressure has reduced, pump seal or diaphragm may need replacement
- Check shoulder straps: Inspect for wear, tighten buckles
- Battery charge cycle: If not using for 2+ weeks, charge battery fully before storage
Battery Care (Most Important)
- Never fully discharge lead-acid battery — damages cells. Recharge when battery indicator shows 30–40%
- Charge Li-ion after every use — partial charges are fine for Li-ion
- Store charged (80%) in cool, dry place during off-season
- Never leave battery fully discharged for weeks — permanent capacity loss
- Replace battery when runtime drops below 50% of original

- ❌ Running motor dry without liquid in tank (overheats motor)
